Address from 10th IGCC Congress President, 10th IGCA President
Dear Colleagues,
I would like to thank very much all IGCA members for the great contribution they gave to the success of the 10th IGCA Congress in Verona last June. The Italian Research Group for Gastric Cancer worked for two years for this meeting and I hope that every body could enjoy both the high scientific level of the presentations and the Social Programme.
In Verona we had 1250 registered participants with about 220 speakers and chairmen from 74 countries all over the world. The Scientific Committee as oral presentation, video or poster has accepted more than 1200 abstracts and the scientific quality of the majority of the abstracts was very high. On the web site (www.10igcc.com ) it is possible to find the list of the participants awarded for their presentation and also many photos taken during the scientific session and the social events.
For the first time in the history of the IGCA, a panel of international experts , after a long Delphi technique exercise which lasted several month, developed a joint document (The Charter Scaligero on Gastric Cancer) which was finally approved during the 10th IGCC. A key point in the CHARTER was the CONSENSUS CONFERENCE entitled “Rationale of Oncological Follow-up after Gastrectomy for Cancer”. More than 300 participants signed the Charter during the congress and on the web site of the congress it is still possible to download the Charter and to sign it for approval.

At the end of this big effort we pass the baton to Prof Zilberstein and to all our Brazilian friends that are going to organize the 11th IGCC in San Paolo in 2 years
